so, i hack on XFire occasionally with Dan. he works in logistics and works with a lot of big companies, like GE.
now, you see, Dan was working with a web service of theirs that was, lets say, less than ideal. now Dan being a helpful guy detailed for them how they could improve their service, but they didn’t listen to his suggestions. thus he decided to blog about it, not mentioning their name.
apparently they read his blog, and realized that he made a post about their crappy web service, and complained to dan’s business partner. Dan, again being the nice guy, took it down. why is it that big companies can’t take helpful suggestions, but then cringe when people complain about things that suck?
if someone gives you suggestions on how to improve your public-facing (or at least partner-facing) image, LISTEN. if you don’t, please don’t get surprised when people complain, especially publicly on the internet.
