I caught notice of this perl script that uses AppleScript to interface with NetNewsWire 2.0 and extract RSS enclosures, downloads them to disk, and then uses AppleScript to add the PodCasts into a playlist in iTunes.

totally awesome. there’s one bug, downloads.log needs to be touched prior to the first run. i also modified the script to go against a smart list rather than a group.
i had been too lazy to get in on the podcasting thing, but this makes it a complete background operation. now, who wants to do a weekly mix show?
